I took our dog Mika to Wilco to get more dog treats and we came out with those + a female KC duckling.
She was by herself in the tank screaming her tiny head off. Luckily I got there at the right time because she hadn't been alone for more than 10 minutes. They just hadn't moved her to the other duckling tank yet.
I also took her through Dutch Bros and made everyone's day. One of the ladies working there asked if she could take a photo for the group chat. I said yes, of course because she asked.
The duckling is currently outside in the brooder yard with the other babies since it's warm enough for it.
Beaker, the offspring of Colonel and Kaeda(r.i.p), is currently following her around. I watched for a few minutes to make sure he/she didn't attack as she/he is around 3wks old now.
The turken chicks were curious about her but now they're just wandering around doing their own thing

That was actually sad. A plant will send up a flower stalk when it 'thinks' it's in danger of dying, so as to propagate one last time.

What could be making it so desperate for light? Is it just not strong enough, even in the window? I don't do houseplants, so I wouldn't know

Well, there certainly wasn't enough light on that desk, and it was inappropriate lighting. And suddenly switching a plant from that darkness to full light would be very shocking!

I don't think that's a death bloom. Granted, I only do succulents, but I think death blooming is a mostly succulent behavior. Plus, depending on how strong the grow light was, one could argue that it provided more light than that window

Those didn't look like grow lights to me...

I know orchids are brought into flower that way, as well as a few others.
