LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Brahma take at least a year, I think at least 18 months to get to full size if they're from good lines. Also, those large dog sized roosters are almost always a lie and just clever angling for the camera

Yeah, I know that about brahma. The very last thing for me is the bird being a good table bird, so I don't care if it takes too long. And I've seen that trick with brahma before, it's very dumb in my eyes. Reminds me of the wannabee macho men who get a bully breed just because they want to look tough, but it ends up being too much dog for them

I've never considered those! Wouldn't their egg production be...you know,....terrible?
Why would it? They're just a normal Cornish, not the Xs. I think they're further on the meat side of the scale than most traditional dual purpose ones, but they still have to reproduce to continue their genetics. I only have the bantams, but they overrun me with eggs if I forget even a day ir two to grab them

I guess so. I prefer my birds over on the egg laying side if anything, but I'll look into LF cornish as well. I doubt there's anyone carrying them though. From skimming through the FB pages I didn't find anyone

OK so moving on from my mental breakdown😅 (I'm still not over it) we're left with Orpingtons and Brahma😌, hope my dreams don't get crushed there as well

Orpingtons are also slow growers. Sorry! :hugs
