OK so😅 I just checked, the humidity is already lower at 62%. I don't know if I should follow the incubators suggestions. The automatic turners work fine, so that's good
Which incubator did you get? Did you also get independent temperature and humidity tools? (thermometer and hygrometer)

What does the manufacturer recommend for humidity?

Humidity from day 1 to day 18 controls the size of the air cell.

Too much humidity and the air cell doesn't grow. Not enough humidity and it shrinks too fast. You want to get close to this diagram by day 18. At lock down humidity softens the inner skin so they can break through into the air cell, internal pipping. The air cell needs to be big enough for them to breathe. Humidity also softens the shell too, so when the carbon dioxide gets too high in the air cell, it triggers them to externally pip through the shell to breathe more oxygen. You will want around 60 to 65% humidity at lockdown.

All this said, if your room air is too humid, you may not need any or much added humidity and can do a dry hatch. If your air is a bit dry, you will definitely need to keep water in the reservoir. Does this machine have vents you can open manually? If so, open them wide right now and this will lower the humidity.

Get yourself a small thermometer/humidity gauge you can put inside the machine, it's always best to have a secondary instrument to compare to the machine.

I got this thing

, comes highly recommended by a lot of Greek chicken people, and as you can see the shop itself. I know it's dumb of me, but I did not get either. The manual says that the temperature showcased on the incubator is a little higher than it actually is inside. The manufacturer manual also says that humidity should be 50-60%

Regardless of what the manufacturer says to set the humidity, if you keep tabs on the air cells, it doesn't matter what the humidity actually is. If you set it to 50% and air cells aren't growing, then you can lower the humidity to allow the eggs to dry out and shrink.

Oh forgot to say. The model is this: VAL-51

Will do. Like any newbie though, I'm sacred of opening the incubator too much🤣
