Hi!! I’m a trans and gay chicken, duck, and parrot keeper. I’m currently going to college for ornithology (study of birds)! I’m glad to see an LGBTQ thread I’ve loved chickens since I was 6 years old and have only been keeping poultry for 2. I hope to do studies on chicken behavior when I graduate as a biology major. She loves people way more than other chickens and prefers hanging out with me than her flock. She’s an indoor outdoor chicken she switches between the two. She’s super sweet and loves to get her beard scratched

Earlier, my grandson decided that my other OEGB cockerel was his. And named him HeiHei. >.<

It's decently soft. I think I'm just spoiled ro be honest. I have some pearl stiff I want to maybe pair with some of this. 4 ounces is roughly a braid of yarn, so this could do at least 2 braids (I think one will have 2 oz of this and then use another oz for a different yarn and save the last oz for some art Batts maybe?) if I cut it in half and pair with other things

What do you think is the softest fiber, I would like my blanket to be really snuggly!

What do you think is the softest fiber, I would like my blanket to be really snuggly!

Cashmere is claimed to be one of the softest at 13 microns on average, but it's super expensive and the yarn is almost always super thin and/or mostly nylon with just a tiny amount of the real fiber. Same with angora rabbit.

Alpaca would be decently soft and warm, if it's cut with something sleek like bamboo/silk/ angora, it will feel softer and a bit cooler too in my experience. You'll want things under 24 microns I think, if you can find it labeled. A lot of people like Shetland too for against the skin. There are a few places that sell 18-19 micron merino on Etsy, one of them might be willing to spin it too if they have yarn also for sale.

Typically the lower the micron, the softer it is.

He'll lose interest quick enough, lol! His attention span is very in-the-moment.

He was carrying little HeiHei around in a plastic bin, blanket on the bottom and food just for him. It was super cute.

I don't know the name, because I'm a man, but my mother knits with soft fluffy sinthetic fibre, and with cotton fibre. She makes carpets and blankets.
