Bees certainly not. Ants I don't know? It's definitely not a year where I've noticed an increased population in ants, but the brooder is in a location one would consider ant central, but I haven't seen any lurking around. Maybe it's because the chicks are eating them
Good to know on the bees. Chickens rarely eat ants since they have an ammonia flavor, so I doubt it was ants either.

Well...now I don't even know how to say this. Remember how I said "most likely gone"? Well, despite this chick being flat on the ground, after me seeing what I assumed to be post mortem spasms, it opened its eyes for a split second. So it's gravely I'll, but alive
Poor little guy. Just keep him comfortable. :hugs

It's 28°C. I can't imagine it's the heat, it has been one of the cooler days, and it wouldn't have spent all its day under the brooder plate
Ok, 28C is pretty cool compared to how bad it was, so heat is not the issue.

This little guy must have a bacterial infection or some internal defect, it happens.

This is so odd. Should I even go out to get amprolium, or should I just wait for it to pass?
It never hurts to have it on hand but I highly doubt this is his issue now. :hmm Other than antibiotics, I don't think there is much you can do at this point other than keep him warm and comfortable, if he is awake and conscious I'd dip his beak in the water to prevent dehydration. But again, this could be something internal or even viral, something that can't be fixed.

It's nice to have a small medical kit put together for emergencies. I keep wormer, Amprolium, Amoxicillin for bacterial infections, Acidified Copper Sulfate for yeast infections, Vetercyn for wounds, and wraps for bumblefoot... a few other miscellaneous things.
