LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

They will get there eventually, I think I'm rushing things, heck they are only a week old! Pretty soon it will be a hop and skip and up there they will be!
Oh and usually sometime during their second week they start flapping a lot, flying by the end of the second or beginning of the third.

Well the brooder babies are already flying on top of the brooder plate, and have their tail and shoulder feathers in. The Cruella babies are already flapping about

Actually I always need more males too, but the neighbors don't agree

You need a place out in the countryside where you can keep chickens as far as the eye can see and no neighbors!

How many roosters do you keep? Do they get along?

I currently have three males. None are in the same pen, all free range at different hours. Kolovos will be going soon, but he and his hens free range for most of the day, usually 6-12 hours a day. Then Big Red and his girls get the last two hours of sunlight to free range. Lady Gaga and the girls free range for 30 minutes, since ether want to roost at that time, so there's less of a risk of them flying away, literally. Big Red amd Kolovos don't get along at all, they go to one another's pen and fight from each side of the fence

Very nice system of giving each their time at free ranging! Do you have a photo of Big Red? I don't think I've seen him in your photos here. Isn't he the one that loves coddling? ❤ :)

Thank you! I try to give the most free ranging time to the birds that use it the most/enjoy it the most. Yes, he's the one who like to cuddle. Here are some photos of my baby

Of course Koutsi had to pass in the most gruesome of ways. The fox struck again. It broke the plastic wire that was in place to deter it from finding the actual wire, and then squeezed its nose through the normal wire and bit Koutsi's head off. In my mind there's no way it could've reached Koutsi is she hadn't already passed, she had to have been really close to the wire, something a live chicken just never does, no matter how sick
:hugs
