LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Okay y'all, I got another question cause it's coming up in one of my storues and im not sure how I want to continue on it. I'll even tag @Shabby Chic-Hens for a younger perspective.

Question:
How would you address them if this were you? Father/Dad or Uncle or name?

Situation:
When you were still a very, very young infant, your parents died. Your uncle (father's brother if that matters) took you in and raised along his own sons as one of his own. For as long as you can remember, you have known he is your uncle, but never treated you any differently than his own sons and daughter.

I think I'd be calling them by an abbreviated form of their name

Good! I don't remember whether I mentioned them flying everywhere, but they are. I know it's not update day today, but I guess I can share the update day picture now. This is their morning/mid-day ritual. I got two more photos today, will probably share those on update dayView attachment 3706010
Cutie pies! ♥️ Yes this is about the age they test their flying power, scattering everywhere. 🤣 Thanks for the update!

Any reason why name and not Uncle?

Uncle is way too emotionally removed in this situation, and since we never got to meet our dad, we feel like that "title" is the only connection we have to him, so giving it to uncle would ruin it. An abbreviations of uncle wouldn't be bad either, but it doesn't exactly roll of the tongue

Probably dad.

Cause Uncle feels weird to me cause he’s not really but dad feels weirder.

Okay, that makes sense
Probably dad.
Any reason why that one?

Honestly, this would depend on the society's norms, as well as the personal preference of the uncle. Since your character's parents are obviously never coming back, then I see nothing wrong with dad/papa. I myself was adopted, and always knew it (I was 3 months old!) but I, of course, was never treated any different from my brother and sister (biological, not adopted). So go with what feels right for your characters' personalities.
