Ugh, repotting season has started over here and I'm so glad! Worked with 9 plants if I remember correctly, so not too many. Can't wait to go through the rest of the collection

Repotting is a lot of work but it is rewarding for all involved! I repotted some cactus a few days ago, adding perlite and stones to their soil. The store bought succulent/cactus soil is way too organic, plants were staying wet too long. I hope I didn't hurt them, one refused to come out if his pot and I ripped some roots.

I find it very relaxing. I can be done with a repot pretty quickly, so it keeps it fun. Don't worry about root damage too much . Astrophytum peeps actually CUT most of them during repotting

Thanks Fluffy, I heard that some cut roots during repotting so I took that to heart. But still, I heard its roots ripping, it hurt me!

I get that. Don't worry though, if you break some roots on the opuntia, it'll make you remember not to do it again! Or I guess, you should worry!

-flops- I live! I think... it's been nuts over here. ugh.

So my second batch hatched out on May 16th, they're going to be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I seriously need to post about them so I can get them sold (even though yes I have a lady who's interested in more of the girls).

The roosters from my first batch are going to be 7 weeks old tomorrow and omfg I can't wait till this darn pen is finished so they can get evicted from my house!! They're driving me crazy!

And in more surprising news, I ran into a lady at Agway today that wants to buy 6 hatching eggs from me to stick under her broody. So now I have to figure out pricing! Huzzah! (oi vey math...)

I am sure if I break one root on the Opuntia it WILL prickle me even if it has to shoot its spikes my way!

Gotta love those wild Prickly Pears! Glad yours is doing so well. I ordered a plant on line that has "furry spikes" the kind that are nearly invisible. So the running joke is its going to stick me like crazy when I go to plant it.

I guess I can't hug him before planting, but I will train him NOT to be evil, you will see! I think he will become my favorite plant!
