It is like my friend in Canada feeding hummingbirds in her garden, I sort of didn't think they were a real thing. Just on TV. 😅
I mean I knew they were real obviously, but...

That is very sweet, but also right! Plants are alive, and able to feel pain. The way I see it, the only time I will do a chop or hurt the plant in any way, is when they are already hurting/dying
Yes plants do feel pain. And you are so correct, once nearly all hope is gone, chopping at least ends their suffering. 🌿
 
Plants need to adapt if they are to survive, climate change has hit this state hard and this very well could be evolution in front of my eyes! 😁

What is Cresting?

Exactly!

Cresting is when succulents stop growing vertically, and start growing horizontally. It mostly applies to species that grow horizontally in the first place. In cacti especially the result is a plant that kind of resembles a brain, or at least, to me. I believe they found that it's a way to conserve water, and protect the plants from the sun's harshest rays by staying farthest away from it
