Hopefully these pictures will help someone help me figure out what is going on with this hen and what to do about it.

She's about 5 yrs. old
Layena layer pellets (not the Omega type which as I'm reading maybe would be a good idea?)

Her comb and face are dark. I'm adding a picture of her sister for comparison.

She had a sneeze/cough - treated with oregano oil and garlic and added ACV to water. Seems to have knocked it out.

Eating fine and very active. I don't think she's laying at all. Her face looks very dry and there's always little flakes on her back.

I've looked at many pictures and can't figure out where to start 🤷‍♀️

Have you picked her up and looked for lice/mites?

Comb looks a little dry, you can put some vaseline on to help moisturize it. Comb and face have a slight mulberry coloring which looks normal to me.

I'm going to attempt to check her again today. When I checked her the other day the skin on her head is "scaly" and maybe there are nits? at the base of feather shaft but I don't see any movement of lice. Under her wings looks beautiful! Always has flecks of "dry skin?" on her black back.... at least I think it's skin.
I rubbed coconut oil on all the girls combs the other day 😩 cuz my barred rocks combs were also very dry.

Soooo if they are face lice do you actually apply whatever you apply to the face? If I apply Vaseline to the face will it smother them?
