River`s eyes opened, and she glanced around after noticing Xylo`s absence at her side. She caught sight of him standing, staring at nothing in particular. He was obliviously deep in thought.

River`s eyes opened, and she glanced around after noticing Xylo`s absence at her side. She caught sight of him standing, staring at nothing in particular. He was obliviously deep in thought.

Xylo was contemplating River. Him and River. The possibility of children. How much he loved her, how he had claimed her for his own. The humans were strange, always waiting long periods of time and undergoing ceremonies to declare love. Maybe it was different because the Aves were part animal, but he knew she was his. And that he was hers. He turned around as she awoke, smiling before whispering “Good morning vampire.”
