Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

So sorry about your birds losses and the vehicle issues.
I'm glad your church lady will be okay. Rough day! Hope it all improves tomorrow (or even sooner).

What a perfect day! and I've only seen 3 hours of it so far! The sky is a beautiful sharp blue, studded with small little white clouds. Our temp is 72* and it's only 7:00 in the am. Perfect. The hum of the cropdusters is a familiar sound, seems they are taking full advantage of the weather...not a breeze stirring...will be a hot day, but not humid like it was yesterday. When I opened the door yesterday, the air was like a wet, hot, washrag splashed in my face...stayed that way the whole day.
I have spotted the yellow plane only once this year thus far. A dull gunmetal plane with a faded red stripe is making the rounds over the parsonage this morning. Had to end my walk early. I don't like to be out and about when they drop the poison. Wish I had a camera, am going to buy one...as soon as finances will allow. Sure do miss mine. I would show you a picture of the Buff Orpington babies....they are really something.
These little chickens seem to actually want human contact. All other chickens I have raised thus far, would scream and run away from my hand when I would reach in to pet them. These stand still or actually come to me! They do the same for the children.
Today is the last day of school, don't know where the year has gone. My son is now calling himself a '1st grader'....to which his sister rolls her eyes and a tiny little giggle will spill out her mouth. Precious.
Our church has begun to literally hum with activity! So much going on! I've been preparing for VBS it's the 2nd wk of June. We have a singing coming up....can't wait! This is a Native American family who I've known, well, they've known me...for years.
And we are making final arrangements for the church trip to the Shepherd of the Hills in Branson, MO. That will be in July. I know...hot, but it can't be helped. and youth camps....seems like about 2 post back I was talking about Youth Camps for last year!
Sorry, I'm back. Phone.
and the Camp Meetings...I love the Camp meetings! This is only a small part of what is happening here. Oh, we have a bake sale coming up....wish ya'll could come buy!

time is flying, swiftly.
I will be seeing my family nxt month. We are going to the National Convention for our church organization, they will have a memorial service where they are honoring my Dad.
I made motel reservations just yesterday for us all. I wish they could come up to the Shepherd of the Hills show to be with our church. <sigh>
But I will look forward to my visits...whenever I can get them..

If I told you what I have been doing this week, you would think my life revolves around funerals. And it does, but it revolves around life as well.
Today, we laid to rest a tiny baby.
Almost 7 months in the womb, and gone.
The cord wrapped around the baby's neck. Today they buried Sarah.

I hold my children, kiss my husband and know that I'm so blessed.
This saddens my heart, somedays I feel so helpless.

Yesterday, I had came outside of the fellowship hall (I was cleaning getting prepared for today, our church was providing the family dinner before the funeral) a lady dropped by her food (they were going to preach at a church in another town) while I was standing there the chickens came flying out of the coop...I mean like what you see in cartoons....squawking, flying....such a funny sight....I yelled (he was out in the front parking lot area) at the Rev. to go see what was going on.
He came back shaking his head, one of the chickens had went to roost, flipped upside down, and was hanging there squawking...poor thing. It didn't hurt her, but she sure was unhappy! I don't know how she did it. Will have to check on that...can't have that happening again!

Not much in the way of dull moments around there.

Gwen I am so sorry that Sarah didn't get a chance to enjoy life, but she didn't get a chance to experiance pain either. I will be keeping you all in my prayers, including Sarah and her family.

Nice how those chickies just know when we need to lighten up hey.

Prayers for Sarah and her family.

Gwen, you had me laughing and right after reading a sorrowful event in your parrish. That might be a good thing? Anyway, I couldn't help but laugh at your poor chicken scaring all the other hens out of the coop. I thought for sure you were going to say that the Rev, found a varmit in there.
Take a deep breath, another day has begun.

Thank you gals!

Been busy canning here, not my tomatoes yet...haven't had a chance to go. Am planning on going Sat. or Mon.
I have canned plum jam (they have set beautifully) still have no camera or would be happy to show them too you.
I've got pears not to far off and hoping to locate many more fruit and veggies.

I'm pretty sure I need a complete acre of okra...we ate through that in no time! My squash went quickly as well.

We have been adopted by 3 dogs someone dumped. I kept running them off, and they just got thinner an thinner until they were weak...sometimes people make me sooooo mad!

I had to feed them, and as dogs go, they are sweeties. Why would someone do that? It just amazes me at the selfishness that people exhibit on a daily basis!!

Anyone want a sweet (looks like yellow lab mix) puppy? (they are a few months old, still young)????

Our church ladies are fine cooks and my family and I are putting in multiple recipes. Yummy, tried an true favorites.
Breads, main dishes, casseroles, desserts, cookies, canning recipes, etc...

It should be ready in about 5 weeks.

They flooded the fields last Thursday, since then....mosquitoes are a constant battle. You can't hear the cropduster going for the sound of mosquitoes swarming your body! Plus, the constant roar of the pumps keeping the fields flooded kinda drowns out any sounds as well. (Did I mention they planted rice this year around the parsonage? ) After the rice grows so far along, they flood the fields and the rice continues to grow in water. Which mosquitoes breed in. We already have mosquito issues, without the extra water laying around.

Can't wait for vacation....
