Sunday night was our "Singing Supper"....(we celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries after service with food, and the service consist of a singing)
During the Singing....2 people (who shall remain) nameless...one was going to sing, my husband asked the other one to testify...they are NOT a couple...but one would dearly love to be...anyway...
The one singing had her backed turned, and the one testifying said he wished he had a girlfriend...he was teasing...but he had been talking so 'solemn' that it took a minute to register...my son (who NEVER misses anything) started laughing and repeating what was said. Needless to say...it was a minute before we could contain ourselves! My word! Folks are funny.
Pretty Boy got me yesterday, and I got a stick and thumped him. Not that it did any good, but I felt good for the moment...then wondered if i had hurt the little darling.
I was busy at the duck pen...you have to go in the coop to get to their pen, and thought I was watching closely....
I believe I'm going to have "rooster" and dumplings before the week-end!
I want to know what my ducks are...ya know...boy or girl...I have no clue...but they are still the most adorable things.
They are beginning to turn white...I need to go get a picture.
*I started to write a story the other day, and it made me so sad I didn't.; sorry. It wasn't even about childhood.
We are swimming down here...nope, don't need a pool, just step out the front door!
My sister came for a surprise visit Monday! Her husband had to make a drive to Greenville, MS and stopped off to stay with me while he went there! What a wonderful welcome surprise!
My mouth got me into trouble the other day....it seems to do that a little to often! At least it wasn't to a church member! And it wasn't hateful...but just a little too 'sassy'.
I remember one time we were all piled up in the truck (it was cold so we couldn't ride in the back) and Daddy always like to park up front...some girls were having a bake sale and they were in my oldest sisters grade...well, they gave the 'snobby' look and finally one came over sugar sweet and said, "would'nt ya'll like to buy some of our baked goods"...my sister said, "No, thank you". That girl turned around and said to her friends..."I bet they would...there's just too many of them...they just don't have the money...they're
Poor!"....and I informed her in about half a second that we knew they put face cream in their icing and that if it had been a pretty day we'd have brought the whole family!" And a few other wisecracks...
When Mom and Dad came out of the bank the girls were all sulled up like toad frogs. My sister was telling me they would never speak to her again...like she needed them....and so on....but I felt good....
I was about 10 so that tells you how long I've had trouble...I can tell you I came by it honest....my Aunt Ann had this trouble....when she was a teenager...she was given a watch that didn't work...but it was pretty...well, one of the girls knew it didn't work and when they got together with some boys that evening, she wanted to embarress Ann....she said..."Ann, what time is it?" Ann, without batting an eyelash said..."There's a clock on the courthouse for those to poor to afford a watch!" sniffed, turned up her nose, and walked off with her soon to be boyfriend....
*Here's a picture I took a minute ago, when the rain took a break, of my ducks.
