Abstract
BACKGROUND:

Among the most prominent metabolic alterations in cancer cells are the increase in glucose consumption and the conversion of glucose to lactic acid via the reduction of pyruvate even in the presence of oxygen. This phenomenon, known as aerobic glycolysis or the Warburg effect, may provide a rationale for therapeutic strategies that inhibit tumour growth by administration of a ketogenic diet with average protein but low in carbohydrates and high in fat enriched with omega-3 fatty acids and medium-chain triglycerides (MCT).

METHODS:
Twenty-four female NMRI nude mice were injected subcutaneously with tumour cells of the gastric adenocarcinoma cell line 23132/87. The animals were then randomly split into two feeding groups and fed either a ketogenic diet (KD group; n = 12) or a standard diet (SD group; n = 12) ad libitum. Experiments were ended upon attainment of the target tumor volume of 600 mm3 to 700 mm3. The two diets were compared based on tumour growth and survival time (interval between tumour cell injection and attainment of target tumour volume).

RESULTS:
The ketogenic diet was well accepted by the KD mice. The tumour growth in the KD group was significantly delayed compared to that in the SD group. Tumours in the KD group reached the target tumour volume at 34.2 +/- 8.5 days versus only 23.3 +/- 3.9 days in the SD group. After day 20, tumours in the KD group grew faster although the differences in mean tumour growth continued significantly. Importantly, they revealed significantly larger necrotic areas than tumours of the SD group and the areas with vital tumour cells appear to have had fewer vessels than tumours of the SD group. Viable tumour cells in the border zone surrounding the necrotic areas of tumours of both groups exhibited a glycolytic phenotype with expression of glucose transporter-1 and transketolase-like 1 enzyme.

CONCLUSION:
Application of an unrestricted ketogenic diet enriched with omega-3 fatty acids and MCT delayed tumour growth in a mouse xenograft model. Further studies are needed to address the impact of this diet on other tumour-relevant functions such as invasive growth and metastasis.

dr champ colin, md oncologist---- the misdirection purposely fed to us and the real effect of ketogenic diets...... including possibly stopping cancer before it starts. ( minute 15:00)

This lecture is part of the IHMC Evening Lecture series. https://www.ihmc.us/life/evening_lect... In this presentation, Dr. Champ discusses the evidence of the role diet plays in helping us reduce our risk of cancer - from over a hundred years ago to present day.

Found a study that clearly says sugars feed the cancer cells. A study shows that keto diet with chemo and radiation has a better effect.

Trying to eat clean. Organic foods is a drive, so doing what I can. FOr now, buying grass fed and organic cream and butter. The Casco Bay butter is 84% butterfat, but the level of grass fed is unclear. Definitely a very HARD butter.

Keeping keto as much as possible. Lots of vegies, well in moderate quantities. Like mushroom, cukes, nasturtium flowers in season, almonds, pea pods, green beans in season, and tomatoes. ALong with chicken, turkey and beef and pork. NOT breadeed.

Did enjoy a big serving of homemade bread pudding. Yum. Used splenda and other sweeteners like raisens, vanila, rum, cinnamon and cloves, and cardamon. Eggs, organic cream, water. OMG GOOD!!!

A rare treat. Back to keto.

Dr Jason Fung.

Started following him last year. Wasnt sure how fasting was a good thing. Ive read and read and listened and watched the delightful Jimmy Moore.

Tried fasting for 36 hours. IT was a real challenge, and often just hour by hour. Having a stack of alowable drinks on hand and no cheats. So far a total of 6 fasts at 36-42 hours each. I love how I feel on the fast. IT is the coming off the fast that is still challenging, to not over eat. The overeating is natural, the key is to keep fitting in the fastings. So those fasts were with in a few weeks time.

Dr Fung at IDM program dot com is FABULOUS. HE is is practicing kidney specialist who was taught one way, saw his patients dying, and looked for another way. HE is amazing.

He is one among a growing number of MD's that are banning together to support keto and fasting. Most are contributors to DIet Doctors. Some are freelance.

The anger I still experience is that if a doctor is not trained for a procedure , he/she cannot comment on it or use it, else lose their license. THEN GET EDUCATED.

THey have known since 2006 in a mouse study, and back into the early 1900's that sugar feeds cancer cells. Eating as standard American DIet just feeds cancer cells. BUt He ..LL why prevent cancer when it is the biggest money maker!!!!

Cancer is likely to be controlled by diet and other factors IF one choses to change their stars.

All that I have discovered is old news toso many. Just that the word is not getting to primary doctors, and to the public .
