Hi,

My Coturnix quail have been laying since they were 6 weeks old (or so). They are now 14 months old and have been laying non stop, with artificial light in winter. I expected them to have stopped laying by now, but they haven't. When can I expect them to stop or slow down laying?
In other words: How many eggs do Coturnix quail lay in a lifetime?

Take the lights off will help but they are still great layers. And with spring they will start laying as the days gets longer. After a year to a year and a half they should be slowing down a little bit.

Typically Coturnix quail will lay an egg a day, so if their not under lights should lay around 210 eggs per year, under lights 300 eggs.
Usual longevity is 2 to 2 1/2 years. So you could expect 400 + to 600 -750 eggs over their live span.

ETA- They will have a temporary 'shut down' during winter months or while molting.

Well since they can live for 2/3years of age they can lay about 500 eggs downwards
