Like Button Poll?

I mostly use the like button as a general affirmation or acknowledgement. Sometimes a post doesn’t really need a reply, but I feel a like is validating the poster so they know they are heard and not being passed over.

Of course, I use the like button because I do like the post.

I would like to see a care emoji.

X2

This is exactly how I feel about it.

If the occasion should arise where I find myself looking at a post like a dog with its head tilted to one side - trying to understand, but the information is just not being comprehended - in this case I might not respond due to lack of knowing how.
I thought I was the only one who thought this way!

So many times I don’t respond to a post because I’m not sure what to think about it; and I often take things completely different than everyone else, so it’s hard to determine the appropriate reaction.

I use the like button to acknowledge that I read one’s post, without actually replying, especially in the above circumstances.

I use the love reaction when I completely agree with a post (see, personally I would use the love reaction on your first and third post because they capture my own feelings so well).

I use it as an afterthought. If no one reacted to my posts, I'd never bother using it, but as it is it I feel guilty if I don't use it, so I tend to come on, spam likes on whatever page I'm on when I suddenly remember the like button is a thing in order to get over the guilt, and then I continue reading posts and looking at pictures without thinking about it again. I never react to posts I don't actually like or love or whatever, so that means I'm also dealing with the guilt of someone potentially realizing I didn't care for their post, so I'll often not react to some posts that are obviously likable so that it's less obvious when I don't actually like a post. In my ideal world, reactions buttons wouldn't exist at all.

Funnily enough, I do check "reactions received" often, as I find it the easiest way to find the posts I've participated in to read new comments, or to reread what I've written and obsess over some typo or unnecessary comma I've accidentally left in and wonder if it would be weird to go in and correct it hours or even days after I've already posted.

Same.

I use like if I agree with the comment or think that it is correct or helpful. I use love if someone said something nice, or a cute story, photo, or I Really like something. 😄

Can anyone tell me if there has been a pole done to determine what members use the "like" button for?

I am interested to know if there is a general consensus to its meaning; or if the "like" button is, for want of a better word, "misunderstood".

I personally use the "like" button as a way to confirm that I have read the post and that I have appreciated the content regardless of whether or not I agree with it... but maybe I am using the button incorrectly?
:idunno

...and I use the "love" button to communicate that I really liked the post, lol. If that makes sense?

I have made this following comment on another thread, but I think it appropriate to repeat it here... If the occasion should arise where I find myself looking at a post like a dog with its head tilted to one side - trying to understand, but the information is just not being comprehended - in this case I might not respond due to lack of knowing how. This happens more often than one might think, lol; especially when things become too theoretical for my more creative mind.

As Lazy Farmer said...

[Edited to correct a spelling mistake.]
I use the like and love buttons just as you do! Makes sense to me! 🤔 :thumbsup
