Limping Bantam (Teresa)

Human super B complex tablets are found in any human Walmart, Target, or pharmacy. 1/4 tablet daily is all that is needed. If you use a chick vitamin, make sure that it has riboflavin (vitamin B2) since some do not.
ok will check that out. How is it best to ensure she has the tablet?

I would crush 1/4 or 1/2 tablet. Then it can dissolve in a spoonful of water that can be fed with a syringe or dropper, or crush the tablet into a small amount of food, cream cheese, or egg. If that doesn’t work, give the 1/4 tablet orally into the back of her beak.

She's unfortunately got worse today, she didn't come out of the coop with the rest and when I lifted her out, she felt strong but when i put her down in the garden, her leg just bent behind her.

I managed to get hold of B Vitamin tablets today and given her 1/4 orally. I couldn't get hold of any Vitamin B "complex" tablets but these tablets I got contain Thiamine Mononitrate so im hoping that might help, how long will it be until I see a potential improvement?

With her legs giving way to her and her looking more unsteady on her legs (she isn't walking now it seems), i dont think theres much else i can do?

we've been give Teresa Vit B tablets for the last 4 days as advised but she isnt getting any better, noticed now that she is finding it hard to walk, when she does, one of her feet is bent back on itself. She is still eating and drinking but cannot get into the coop at night or out in the morning as she just topples over. Her poo is a bit watering too...

any ideas?

Where are you located? Did you look for B complex at a regular store that sells vitamins? It is a mix of all the B vitamins. She needs riboflavin or B2 for leg health or curled toe paralysis. It could be that she is showing signs of Mareks, but just giving her thiamine (B1) is not going to help her. Some chicken vitamins have riboflavin and some don’t. A chicken sling might get her up and in front of food and water for part of the day. Are the other chickens picking on her? That could happen, and she needs to be protected from them if it does. A wire dog crate with food and water, but kept in sight of the other chickens is a good way to keep her safe. Here is a link about chicken sling chairs:

We live in the UK.

The Vitamin B tablets are "complex" i think?! Attached is a photo of the ingredients list from the back of the product and also this is the size of the tablet, about 1.5cm long. This does list B2.

The other chickens are picking on her, I try and step in when they are close, sometimes they are fine with her, other times not.

We have a chicken run that is fenced off from where the chickens are during the day, should this be where she stays during the day? Additionally what should i do at night? We tried to keep her indoors but she walked out the door and to the coop when we tried this first time...

Yes those tablets are fine to use. The chicken run sounds fine during the day, and it would be good if they see each other or had supervised visits. A dog or cat cage would be good for night, but a spare bathroom or a garage would work.

ok we will do that from tomorrow. Just got some Vitamin E tablets too so will give her one of those and 1/4 of the large Vitamin B complex tablets and take it from there... i hope she pulls through
