Hello All,

My white leg horn has been limping for about a month or so but it seems to be worse when it snows or cold weather. I have checked her feet for bumblefoot and there are no sores or signs of any wounds. She still walks and runs when she needs to but isn't fast. I have also been trying to get a mite situation under control since the Fall. Is there any correlation? What else could this limp be caused from? Will an injury heal on it's own?

How old is she? Scaly leg mite is the only parasite I can think of that might affect her walking. Injuries can take a while to heal, particularly when they are walking around on it all day. If she is relatively friendly/tame bird you could see if soaking her legs in a warm epsom salt helps (followed by a blow dry if it's cold outside). You could also try to limit her activity for a week or so by keeping her in a separate crate/pen in the coop with her own food and water and see if that allows her leg to heal up better.
