Line-breeding

Continual, repeated use of close bred animals (from the same mating population or strain) results in inbreeding.

The difference is in the results-Line breeding successful/Inbreeding not successful. Can you figure your coefficient? Do you want to pen mate or single mate you would mark each female as a line then you can toe punch and then you need to band them by year ect.....Mostly new poultry breeders start with pen mating and if you are NPIP you should hatch your own replacements for biosecurity. If you just want turkeys to have why bother?

Nope just using your post for anybody else looking....I still breed show horses and the female is the most important and there are many patterns to use some work and some are not to good..my best was Aunts to nephew but they have many other similar relatives crossed a certain way...it's complicated but it works my breeding coefficient is about 12%

Do you know anyone that has MW that are good broodys? Maybe all the broodyness has been bred out of your flock. What kind of selection have you been doing?

I've had good broody MW's. I lost my good hen to an owl. My other two hens are not good at finishing the hatch. But, to answer your question, yes there are very good MW hens that brood well. I recently purchased another hen. If she is a good brood hen, I will use her to breed for other good ones. But, who knows really what will happen. Trying to breed in traits can take years to accomplish with a lot of trial and error.
As to specifics, I would breed her daughter to her fathers son from another hen.
