They sleep in the living room, and everyone else in my house is in their own rooms, so the living room light is off most of the day and all night.

Then why are they not spending their nights out in a coop? If it's significantly cooler outside then inside, it's hard on them to go back and forth between the different temperatures. Seems to me like you are putting your wants above what is truly best for your birds. You have to keep in mind that they are wearing built-in down coats. They will be much happier and more comfortable outside.
