No Prob...may take awhile to get a response.
Have always been fascinated with bugs and critters....insects are very hard to ID, and most people freak out when they see swarms of them.
Always good to remember that most only live for a few days.
I'll bet the warm weather has hatched them out,
and they'all be dead when the temps drop again.

That’s okay! Totally understandable! But so far, for now, it seems to be the general consensus that they are harmless? Or at least not mites?

And that’s good to know! I didn’t think about that. Thanks!

It’s supposed to be very warm this weekend and all next week and supposed to rain Sunday and Thursday so they may not die off for a while... tomorrow is supposed to be 58 and Sunday is supposed to be 62 :th next week is a little cooler, 40s, but still very warm for January. Next weekend though it’s supposed to get cold again and maybe snow so maybe they will die off then.

They are springtails! Specifically Dicyrtomina saundersi. Harmless if not a little annoying. They were woken up by the rain, they're probably concentrated in your compost pile.
Just so you know, fleas are laterally flattened. When you look at them from above they will look skinny, not fat like a tick. And mites do not jump.

Thank you!! This is extremely helpful!! Glad to know they are not harmful. I was really worried I had some sort of infestation or something and would need some serious measures. :lau

So are they good for the compost pile then!? :D

I never had them before but this is the first year I’ve done deep litter in the run.

And thanks for the ID info on the other species! Very helpful.

Looks like two different types of bugs, doesn't it?
:barnie
Maybe 3.
