BUGS :barnie Reminds me of the "mites" in my CH ... I went all out with chemicals only to find out not bird mites. Doesn't bother the girls, some kind of ground/grass mite that deal with decomposing stuff (Dept of Ag). They start coming around when it's warm, wet & humid & I toss mowed grass clipping for the girls once a month. I found they collect under the food dish (molded dog dish) so every night I spray with alcohol & they die instantly.

Thanks! Very interesting!!

Thanks! Very interesting! I note it says they’re often near water sources... coincidentally, there was a 5 gallon bucket as well as a chicken waterer that both had some water in them from rain/snow/ice melt and of course the chicken waterer in the run and lots of leaves and the chip pile. Probably prime habitat. :lau

Which is not a species, FYI. Just a classification of many species that all have a large rounded abdomen.

That’s what this kind is, right? Or a few different kinds?
