Little Giant 9200 Still Air Incubator - humidity

I saw Tinker's (Silkie in the egg) toes! She pressed her foot up against the shell and I saw her 3 big toes. I saw her beak and possibly the stub of a wing. Her veins are so thick. There is a dark spot to the left of her that I'm unsure of what it is. Any ideas? A double yolker maybe? If so it's not alive. It's not as big a Tinker and it's not moving. She's growing so fast! I'm on day 11. I love watching her progress. BTW I'm calling the chick a she because I did the old wife's tale of the pencil and thread, (if you don't know, google it.) which when hovered over that egg, it said girl. I'm hoping for a girl so I can keep her. We don't need any more roosters and I'm actually trying to get rid of some.

The Silkie in the egg is getting big. I cracked 5 eggs and it looks like we had one quit on day 4, one on day 5 or 6, two on day 7 and one on day 9. We have 9 left but I think I'll have to remove one more in a few days. But I have 8 definitely still going.

for those last eight eggs!

I need to candle mine and see how they are doing. I set them on 24th for they are six days today ... wow didn't realize! Life has been insanely busy for me.

I had to take the eggs out of the incubator. There were only 5 but I think only 4 are still going. My incubator temp was fluxing from 96-106 with just a very slight turn of the knob. I took the eggs to my newly broody Silkie, who is the mother to the Silkie chick I've been posting about. This is her first time being broody so we're just going to hope she doesn't get up and leave them. She's our only hope so fingers crossed. She was sitting on 7 eggs and I had to take 3 from her to make room for the incubator's eggs. Luckily there was nothing growing in the eggs I took from her. She accepted the eggs. All 5 of them. They are due to hatch between Friday and Sunday if they didn't die from being at 98 degrees for who knows how long. I woke up to the bator being at 97-98 but I went to bed with it at 101. Grr! I candled the Silkie egg and saw no movement but everything looked good. She was moving last night. They don't move 24/7 anyway. I saw the chicks in the brown eggs moving last night before the "Great Flux". The fan was making a lot of noise so I'm not sure what was going on. Wish Binky luck! She's going to be a mommy much sooner than expected.

Uhhhhhh lol good question! I need to take some don't i

Yes you do!

I had problems with the temps dropping at night. I would go to bed and it would be a perfect 102 then in the morning it would be 98-96. I covered the windows with a dishtowel and that kept the temp from dropping at night. I also set the bator on a fleece blanket so it is insulated on the bottom. I still had two chicks hatch out.

I thought about getting another bator but I'm figuring this one out so I'm going to keep at it with this one!

I sold mine 2 days ago. I'm too busy to have to keep fooling around with it. When I have to sit up at night for 2 hours adjusting the temp just for it to go too low, it's time for a new one lol. I'll just wait for another broody hen in the Spring or hopefully I'll get the new incubator before then. Anyway, I think my Silkie chick died. I candled it this morning and it looks too small to be on day 17. Well technically 16. I don't know. I let momma keep it just in case. I think I have a brown egg still going. I only candled 2 of them so I have no clue how it's going to turn out.

Tomorrow is the earliest any can hatch. Saturday is probably going to be the day if any make it. I did the sniff test and , I think, 3 of them smelled bad including the Silkie but I left them just in case. I sold the daddy so I hope at least one hatches. I have 4 ducks and a few older chicks to keep him company.

Since I covered the windows I have not had to mess with it at all!
