Little Giant 9200 Still Air Incubator - humidity

I have 4 Silver Sebright eggs and today is day 7! This is my second attempt at hatching any. I candled them at day 5 because I couldn't wait until day 7. So I had one that wasn't fertilized and 1 I thought was a quitter. The quitter could have been alive. I think I might have actually killed it but I don't take many chances at cracking them in case they are, in fact, alive. But I did and now I think I have another quitter but we're giving it 2 more days to be sure. I have 4 that were developing fine at day 5 but I can't wait until day 17 until I candle them again before lockdown. My temp was fluxing a lot today but I think we got it under control. I've been keeping my temp between 99.5 and 101 and so far so good. I'm probably going to give in a candle them at day 10 lol. My humidity has been at 60% for a few days. My first time of incubating I had 14 and none hatched. I had one develop but I thought it was a quitter and cracked it. Oops! Hope these will make it! Good luck with all of yours!!!

This is the last time I'm candling until day 11 or so. I wanted to make sure we were making progress. I had my temp go over 102 a couple of times but the eggs continue to develop so it must not have been that bad. I have eight eggs in and so far everyone is developing.

Good luck with your hatch!

My temp went to 103 for an hour without me knowing. I'm going to give in and candle them tonight. It'll be the first time I'll get to see a day 7 chick in the egg! Can't wait! Then I'll candle again on day 17. 4 times isn't too bad for 21 days lol. I candled at day 3 and saw nothing but I did on day 5! So excited! 2 more weeks can't go by soon enough

I hope they look good when you candle them! Let us know please

:ya ha I did too! Everything looks to be progressing, including our double yolkers (we have two). One has veins on both sides and the other one only on one side. I have one egg that was added a day later and it is just starting to show veins. From our flock Egg 1 Egg 2 Egg 3 Egg 4 Egg 5 Couldn't get this one to show up. From neighbors flock Egg 6 Egg 7 Egg 8
Those look like they are progressing really good. My ducks don't get locked down until day 25 so I think the wait is going to kill me

I tried to take pics of the candling but my camera wouldn't show anything. I have 2 that are definitely developing. If the others are quitters, we'll find out on day 17. Hope they make it!

The incubator got down to 92 at some point last night/early this morning. I'm not sure how long it was that low. I have no idea if that means I'll lose the whole bunch or not.

That stinks. But your eggs may be just fine. My last hatch, we lost power for 6 hours and I have 30 chicks now. A lot of it depends on when during development and how cold. I think just down to 92 you're going to be ok for just a little while. And remember the hens don't sit on the eggs 24/7. So eggs hatch naturally with temperature fluctuations.

X's 2 I agree.

When I went to bed at midnight it was 101. At 8 am it was 92. At some point last night one of the kids got up and got the wood stove going. I have no idea how long they sat that cold.
