Little Giant 9300 New Design with Digital Controls

Well out 36 eggs (coturnix) 1 infertal 1 broke in transport, 4 didn't make it through lockdown.
400

29 hatched 8 Golden's 21 browns. Not to bad for such problems early on. I met the humidity at 35 40% then 70 at lockdown.

Ducks are going to be khaki campbells

I am having the worst time with the heat in this unit. Up towards the front it is 100-101 and toward the back corners temp is soaring at 110! (Top of egg w/out fan and I am using a turner)

I am on day 3 of incubation and I'm worried about those eggs in the back! I have two temp. Gauges in there and rotate them to make sure I'm getting the correct reading in the back. I have pulled one plug and humidity is around 45. What kills me is the little chick that flashes on the screen and tells me " temp okay" when clearly 110 is not!

I don't want to get a fan- do you have any suggestions to help even out the temp with out one in this unit?

I have this unit right next to my hova bater unit and I am having no problems with varied heat - so I don't believe that the environment is the issue.

My best guess is that the probe on the plastic sheet is moving with the turner. I have taped it to a golf ball before and this last time I set it directly on the Turner not the eggs and it seems to not move and just slip on the turner surface. I called the company and they said to leave both plugs in until lockdown, haven't tried that yet.

I have three temp things in there right now.... ( the one that is attached to the unit-a plastic probe one that came with another incubator- and a nice one that I bought) and have rotated them to make sure that I am correct on the temp in the back.. one of the temps is the one that you place inside the top hole and it hangs down and barely touches the top of the egg... it also tests humidity... I got the suggestion to use this one from BYC....

It is so varied in the back... 110 again this morning... and then around noon 102.... 3pm...104... This thing is testing my patience... and I have 4 kids- so It takes a lot to get my blood boiling!

Yes they're very frustrating, I've had the best result with the temperature statying the most stable in the basement. The probe you're dropping in is probably the most accurate as the one on the incubator not so much, I would plug the other hole back up and set the temperature based off of your probe on the eggs. If your probes reading 104 and the bator set at 99.5. I would turn the bator down a couple of degrees then see what your probe reads again after a couple of hours.
