The plastic temp probe does move alot with the turner in. My next hatch im going to slide it between the middle row on the turner and have it lying flat on the floor of the bator. I did this at lockdown last time and the temp stayed pretty steady

Thank you! I opted to just lay on their side. This morning I had my first one hatch. It was kind of early since hatch day isn't until tomorrow but apparently it wasn't waiting I'm super excited even though I only have 1 and n no others are even piping yet but we'll see how it goes. Still happy even I'd only 1 comes because that means I at least did something right for my first hatch!

And then some people lay them on their sides because that way chicks don't have to work against gravity to hatch.  Good luck!

Yes, Good luck! Day 18 here I'm going to candle again tonight, pull the Turner and hopefully lay them on their sides. I'll really be surprised if any hatch out of this batch.

I'm trying to figure out my plan of attack when my eggs arrive Friday. I'm thinking: Unpack, candle (gently) to determine if air cells are detached. If detached, put eggs upright in cartons in the incubator, fat side up, and don't touch for 24 hours, up to 36 hours if air cells don't stabilize. Thereafter turn eggs by leaning them side to side in the cartons. I thought about propping up the entire carton on alternate sides to turn the eggs, but with a still air incubator I'm worried the eggs on the high end might end up a full degree warmer than those on the low end. I'm hoping leaning them will be enough of a "turn" to exercise the chicks. I will lay them on their sides for hatch.

Did it, lockdown has begun , there are only 4 eggs that look good and 1 of those still has a sloppy air cell so it's staying in the carton, hope it's not a stink bomb waiting to blow! I will be surprised if any hatch really. I think that putting the turner in at day 9 was not good, learning experience! Thanks for the well wishes! I'll post results soon!
