little giant 9300

Okay after 48 hours I checked the remaining 4 with detached aircells and they don't look like they're getting stable, so I separated them into their own carton and I won't disturb them again till day 10 maybe.

The rest I started turning by leaning them in the carton.

My humidity is running around 35%, I'm wondering if its the paper cartons that's keeping it lower this time.

How's @only1bgirl? Anything hatch?

Wow that is amazing that 7 settled this soon, thats really good! Nothing here yet, day 22 will be marked in six hours. Not giving up yet, I think that I'm seeing movement in 3 eggs still. I did run the incubator on the cooler side this time too, so hopefully something will hatch soon. I will post as soon as and if anything happens, thanks for asking and have a great weekend!

Oh no only 5 had detached cells to begin with and I tossed one of those because it was seeping. Another 5 were kind of wobbly but not rolling and 2 I couldn't really make out an aircell, those two might be scrambled.

Wishing you luck!

Shipped eggs are such a gamble. Nothing has changed here, thinking if they don't hatch tonight tomorrow I will be pipping the tops to see what's going on. Not doing the full eggtopsy again like I did the last three times.

Finally got up the nerve to pip the eggs, they were all dead, one pipped internally the rest just quit, I'm assuming when I laid them on their sides, like they pipped then drowned. The rocker was a bomb ready to blow, glad I did this outside. First time for that. Read an article that I found searching bing for shipped eggs, the gal said after years of trying to hatch them she lets them just sit in cartons the first 8 days before turning them in cartons side to side. I think I will try this next time in a couple of weeks when I have dollars to order more. On a positive note chicks are good. Good luck GeekySheep!
Here's the article I referred to

I'm sorry, bgirl. :( I had at least two from my first hatch that were fully developed and just never pipped internally, I wish I knew what caused that.

Thanks for the article. I think I may leave my detached air cell eggs in cartons for the duration of the hatch. My cartons are cut so low that I should be able to tell if someone pips at the wrong end.

I'm back to reading BYC posts and blogs and I'm thinking now that humidity levels are my issue here. Thinking back to all my eggtopsies, in horror, the aircells and membranes were dry but after puncturing membrane there was quite a bit of water inside with the chick, not gel like egg white but liquid. Does this sound reasonable? I let the humidity range between 45-55 than boosted it to 60- 65 during lockdown.

From what I've read, humidity doesn't seem to be as critical as temperature. And the "dry incubation" method seems to be recommended quite a bit here on BYC except maybe for very dry climates like the Southwest.

This time around I'm using a postal scale to measure the average weight loss instead of trying to measure the aircells at candling. Maybe next time you can try lower humidity or even dry incubating and then for peace of mind use a kitchen scale or what have you to measure weight to see if you're on the right track?

Yes dry incubation does seem to be the preferred method here on BYC. The lady I ordered the eggs from lives in Florida and she does this too and yes I asked about acquiring more eggs. It's worth a try since its the the only thing I have not adjusted with the past 4 attempts. You're correct about weighing the eggs being better than eyeing them. I do not have a scale though. The saga or madness , you decide, of hatching shipped eggs continues...
