Someone on this forum mentioned using a Dimmer switch knob so I know a friend who keeps stuff like that stored neatly around his garage and he gave me ( 3) they fit the LG Thermostat stem perfectly and there is a little pointy thing that gives you a reference point when you turn the know It has made my LG a whole lot easier to regulate........ If the power would just stay on here .. Ive lived here three years and the power ha only gone out twice both times this week since I set 39 eggs last Friday.
Good thing I was around to catch it.

I dont have alot of the things a person needs to TRY to bring the LG I bought as a HATCHER. By the time I pay for so many things people suggest, knobs, fans, cushioning or wrapping, etc...I can pay for that my second basic model Genesis. Safer, because again, I am apparently the reason there needs to be a Hatching for Dummies book....I need plug n hatch....I am not home all the time, I have to be gone and I miss half the pipping and zipping, no matter how hard I try to time it! Great suggestions, but it's still so much work on an inconsistent machine - the LG is just not reliable in my opinion, unless the user can baby it along with this gadget and that twitch of the knob. I gave up after it/I killed 7 chicks on day 21 with a major heat surge. I wont use it again, with or without the great bells and whistles you can add. JMO

Sorry to hear that. For me, I'm somewhat of a packrat. I think for everything I added I spent close to .97 cents. All it cost me was some time.

Well, I got thoroughly peeved and took my LG back to the store. Since I am a masochist at heart, I got another LG 'bator. I mounted a 80 MM pc fan to the top sucking air from bottom and blowing up...I do have standoffs so there is not a huge blast from the fan. Had hubby mount a wood dial to the temp adjustment dial. We inserted 3 different digital thermometer/hygrometers and 1 manual one inside and played with the temp last night. This morning it seems to be holding between 2 degrees of fluctuation. Now I just wish I new which thermo/hygro was right...LOL. Next is put the water and turner in. This had better be worth it!!!

My temp on my LG still air holds pretty well. If you don't want to lift the top to put water in just take some tubing and put it through one of the air hold at the top then pour water down the tubing into the bottom.

As I type the chirping of chicks come from behind me in my LG still air. This is my second hatch. I had some problems with the temp the first time till I decided it wasn't going to be perfect. Our first hatch was 56% I hope this one is better but hey 56% is better then nothing. Our friend has the same one and thought it was suppose to be run at 99.5 he ran it at that temp the whole time and had all but 2 chicks hatch! Out of 24! Last time my DH kept opening it during the hatch I wont let him this time and I think its going well!
