I joke about it being the crockpot of incubators. I calibrated the incubator to make sure the temperature was accurate (it was 1/2 a degree off), make the necessary temp adjustment, then placed the eggs, and added water every couple days. On lockdown, I took out the turning plate, put in a piece of felt, and filled both wells with water.
The incubator did the rest of the work. All I had to do was sit there and obsess.
I didn't have a hygrometer, so I'm not sure what humidity was. I live in a very arid area, so I am guessing that humidity was in the 30% range through day 18, and then 65% or so for lockdown.
Ahhh, the memories! We got our first ever chicks in August. We'll be getting 3 more in March... Meyer is sending 2 to replace the roos that were supposed to be hens. Thanks
