Live Webcam! 6/7 hatched, camera on brooder now

I agree, don't pip. I would give it another 24 hours or so. I've had them hatch on day 23 and 24 before. Not unheard of. If it "feels alive," go with your instinct. Keep us posted.
Your babies in their brooder are super cute, though! How many "chipmunks?"

Great link, msemanuel! I read alot of it. On page 12 a guy has a video of his floating quail eggs - one is rocking like crazy! I'll keep this in mind I've never heard of it before.

No, Lily, it's not turned off. I thought it was, too. So I just went back to first page of this thread and reloaded it. It's there now.

Sphinx, how's that one littlest one doing?

I swear! There's something wrong with me - I can't quit watching! I just love babies. And I'm not expecting any until my March 26th order arrives. Oh, the anticipation...

I turned it off briefly so I could move my laptop to be closer to the brooder so I could have brooder cam. Also, my SIL gave me a camera that she felt was better. It DOES have sound, but it didn't seem to have very good focus, so I put my camera back on.

I don't like how overexposed everything is. Once the chicks are a day or two old, i think I'll take the towel out and have them just on the shavings, and hopefully it will be better. If anyone has advice on that, I'd love to hear it too!

I have two light chipmunks. The first black one- HULKSMASH, has some light chipmunk markings down its' back. The other two darker birds are still too wet for me to call- I didn't notice the chipmunk markings on HULKSMASH until this morning.

Instead of shavings, using a few layers of newspaper. Shavings stick to their little butts and is messier, I think. Then I can sprinkled some food on the newspaper for them to pick at. I usually do newspaper until they are about a week or so old. Again, just my preference. I love that you have them on a towel right now - it looks soft and warm for them, especially the two littlest ones.

I just love watching them walk all over top of each other when they are that tiny!

I don't take the newspaper, but I may shred some of our old important documents and put those in once they start pooping and making a mess.

I don't get the paper, either. I have to get my mine from my neighbor. he always saves them for me and chick time. Shredded docs could work as long as they can't scratch them all to the side and end up on bare floor. Maybe just don't shred them, at first?

Well, as long as you don't use the shiny parts (like the color ad inserts) and you need to sprinkle feed on it. I only use it for a few days - no longer than a week, when they are still prone to pasty butt. But yes, you do have to be careful. I've never had any problems, though.
