Is that loud enough??
My AC unit DIED last night. I have to replace the control boards on the external compressor. The closest place that might have them on hand is an hour away and we are preparing for sticker shock. It's actually hotter inside than out.

So now I have to check the bator nearly hourly to adjust the temp and humidity.... Man when life decides to start conspiring against you, it really like to pick the strangest times! I'm already have a heck of a day building the run with materials that are totally refusing to cooperate now this......

Hopefully we'll get enough fans going this afternoon to get it cooled down enough to sleep tonight and keep the bator from cooking the eggs. I want bitties not broiled eggs.

KDbeads... I feel your pain!!! I had our A/C go out here in AZ for 2 days when it was about 112 out! Not fun! I can't remember if I had eggs going... But probably not since I can't remember. I would be so upset if I did! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Ok...I am still a newbie at this stuff and the urge to candle is overwhelming..... want to peek inside!

I have been good--so far--and I suspect won't see much. 14 of my chicken eggs are cuckoo marans, so they are rather dark **sigh** I have two more that are from the grocery store "free range" carton, just for funsies.

I have quail eggs in there too. I wonder if I have a flash light small enough.

The bator got a bit too warm last night and considering it was 92 inside the house I could have probably left the door open with no problems, but while it was open I decided to sneak out 2 for candling

Officially day 4 when candled:
#1 from the mutt hen - air cell visible and there was a tiny but of veining and a little red dot I'm assuming was the embryo.
#4 from the ee batch - The shell is hard to see into but I saw an air cell and a faint bit of veining as well.

Reminder to self..... need more powerful flashlight!!!

LOL I have eggs on day 14, day 9 and day 2, adding eggs today... day zero. Chuckle.

The three 14s are doing well. The day nines are dark and frustrating. I'm not bothering the day twos. LOL. And I'm headed out to pick up the zeroes here shortly.

It's not helping that I rewired and plugged in the antique cabinet bator and it's ummm working. I put 15 of the eggs in it... they look lonely, it holds hundreds...

Did the "official" candle last night---and found something wierd.

When all is said and done:

2 Store boughts- yolkers, threw them away.
4 Blood rings- separated them from other eggs, did not remove, just in case
1 Detached air cell/scrambled-separated but did not remove JIK
1 Infertile
10 seem to be chugging along.

WHAT'S WIERD?

Well if Capitan Picky-Pants Accountant Laree does her math right, that makes 18 eggs, 16 of them the Cuckoo Marans. BUT I ONLY SET 14, right???!!!!

I counted 5 or 6 times before I made the DH come over and count too! I was SURE he was messing with me (by adding a couple of store-bought browns) but he says no! Even my earlier threads say 14 eggs.

The chickens are out to get me....

I suspect the hubby. I think I may have to email the seller and see if she remembers how many she sent.

I still have the carton the maran eggs came in. I spent 5 minutes staring at it trying to visualize how it looked when the eggs got here. I even checked my camera to see if I had taken a picture of them all prettily lined up.

Oh well--tossed 3 of the suspect eggs today. Decided the possible eggsplosion was not worth the risk.
