2 more days to lock down, 5 to hatch..............

I hate waiting, gives me too much time to do everything else. Like canning, embroidery, ignore house work in favor of BYC......

Will be in lockdown this evening. This morning at 9 am after a week or so of fairly constant humidity of 45% without adding water, my hygrometer read 39%, at 4 am it had read 45%. So I went ahead and upped the humidity to 60% a little prior to lock down

Think I might have a bit of an early hatch??

BTW... I'm not doing dry incubation so I'm thinking 60% to 65% is going to be a good spot for us.

Will candle tonight and remove all the dead ones, we know 3, could be 4 and I'm planning on separating the remaining by putting up a divider with the mutts on one side and the EEs on the other so I will know for sure who's who before banding.

Off to make pita bread to keep me busy

I am down to 4 mutts and 5 EEs after candling. Went back to just candling with the mag light from the top and got better results in viewing the embryos. Those we pulled out we opened and determined about what day they quit and since 3 were about the same day I know what happened, it was when the AC was out and the bator went from 91F to 102F in just a few hours. It was spotty until we got the AC fixed so I'm just happy that some are still moving!!

When I left for work I had two definate pips and one possible pip (but it was at the bottom of the egg- so maybe not?)

I sooo wanted to call in sick today.

"Sorry, I won't be in today, the Cuckoo Marans are pipping."

My dad once got fired (by his arch nemisis) from the hospital for calling in late because "his goat was kidding". Later that day, Dad went into work with a bunch of polariods of me, a bunch of gooey kids, and my dad in a ruined shirt. He got his job back, and nemisis was reprimanded. I guess some city folk don't get it.

I've got 6 pips out of 11... I am having trouble getting the Humidity higher... 2 saturated washcloths, ALL wells in the tray are overflowing. Hope they don't have a problem

So far I have 5 White Rocks that have hatched with 5 more that have pipped. I have 3 of my RIR eggs that have pipped, one of which is on the side of the egg, so I'm not sure if he/she will make it out.

That egg sure is rocking though!

Correction: 3 out, 3 pipped, 1 rocking, probably rocking.

They are all cuckoo marans.

EDIT: one pipped at the bottom of the egg, but is still doing its thing. How crazy is that? The air cell was in the right place....
