Lockdown this p.m. BUT I hear chirping!!??? UPDATE--Pictures post 18

Thank you! I'm just thrilled. This is my first try and I'm using a borrowed LG still air and hand turning. The current count is 20 hatched out and looking good, 1 trying to zip, and 3 with nothing going on. I'm going to wait a couple of days before tossing the three no goes because the hatch started on day 18. I tried to move the eggs around the bator to avoid any of them staying in a hot or cold spot, but I wasn't very methodical about it so it's possible that these ones will just take a little longer.

Even if they don't hatch I'm still amazed that 20 of the 24 have hatched so far.

I *thought* I was addicted before, but I don't think I'll be able to stop now. It was amazing listening to them peep from inside the shell before they even pipped, I just loved that. I'll get some pictures when DD gets home with her camera.

The one that was zipping hatched last night and one of the eggs that was just laying there pipped, zipped, and hatched in under 1/2 an hour this morning. I was so surprised when I glanced in the bator I had double check that I wasn't just seeing things. Out of the original 2-dozen eggs I started with 22 have hatched. I was surprised when they all showed development when I candled at 14 days, but this is just amazing!!

My computer is down and I can't load pics from my camera onto DH's lap top (no cord) so I have to wait until DD gets home Sunday with hers. There'll be lots of pics I promise--I want some guesses on what folks think the crosses might be. RIR, SLW, and EE roos with RIR, BR, BA, SLW, RSL, BO, and EE hens. I've got tooo many roos, but fertility was 100%.

I just had the exact same prob. I also was using a still air LG and hand turning. My eggs started pipping on day 17 and a few hatched that night. My temp and humidity was perfect the whole time. There is no way I was mixed up on my days as I keep everything carefully written down in a netebook for that purpose. I still have a few hatching as I type, a mix of pekin, khaki and buff orpington eggs. Everything went well though and all but about 5 eggs have pips, are hatching or have hatched. I am going to give it a few days though as the eggs were not even due to hatch until today and tomorrow.

We still have these guys in the house instead of in the garage like last year. They crack me up the way they all run to the front of the cage when I talk to them and jump up on my arm when I change the food and water.

I'm pretty sure I've got the bug and I'm not sure if there is a cure.
