It is day 21 for us. We woke up this morning to 2 new hatches over night. All good and before work I got to witness one zip and hatch. This one is yellow and huge.........

The rest are dark and small? The parents were red sex links and the roo was a big and black. It must be a throw back???? There is a brahama in there but that egg is still intact and well marked.
After work today all is well and to my suprize all the rest of the eggs are pipped. If the next 4 hatch that would be 100% hatch rate!!!

Just starting day 20 here, how is everyone elses hatches going? I can hear the little tap taps and a cheep every now and then when I put my ear up to the bator, so cute. I love the little taps. Maybe tmrw morn I will have some pips! Anyone with new babies? Pics?

It's pretty quiet here this morning........ We hatched out 8 of 9. The 9th one is still in the incubator. It does not look like anything is going on with it????? No pips and no movement or rocking. It is day 22.
Last night was a different story. The last 3 hatches were interesting. I had one chick that had piped and started to zip and for hours just kept pecking at the same place where it was already zipped I was thinking it was dried in the shell and could not move in spite of 80 humidity.

My Brahama piped and came out of the small end. Then must not have absorbed the yoke all the way and was dragging a trail along. The other chicks were brutal.......... to say the least. Whether right or wrong I decided to intervene and grabbed the 7 healthy chicks and put them in the brooder. While in there I sprayed the chick stuck in the shell with warm water and cracked the shell a bit more with my hands and shut the lid.

It immediately got quiet................... The 7 chicks were exploring the brooder.
The chick in the shell started to push and push and finally broke out. ( I got a movie of it on my camera)
So in the incubator was the poor brahama chick that was violated and I suspected was not going to live through the night. He had the company of the assisted hatch and the egg that just sat there.

We went to bed.....
This morning the brahama was dead.
The assisted chick a bit stickey but healthy. It was moved to the brooder.
The egg was still just an egg???? I will give it awhile yet. It is day 22.
