I know! Mine are due the 8th too but hoping for a pip tonight! This is my first time hatching and owning chickens. I guess when I decide to do something, I do it!
Oh geez if theres something i have put my mind to, i wont rest until its done. My bf said no birds, i talked, wiggles, wormed and squirmed my way into convincing him it would be benificial, and DONE! haha! homeward bound!! LMAO!
So hes been supplying my wood for my flights
Im wanting one to pip, but i can wait.. never hatched gamebirds in an incubator, hatched parrots though.. big difference.. lol!
How is it different?
And yes...we were to have 10 chickens and 2 ducks....lol....we already have 15 chickens (not counting the eggs) 6 coming from MPC and my daughter wants 4 as a 5th grade graduation present! The ducks? well, we got 3 and now that we're pretty sure they're all males...3 more Cayuga females on the way!
HAHA, he knew not to put a limit on it... or did he not know he should have??
Pretty much its the same other than you get up to 2000 a baby that hatches from the eggs.. so its a little more.... stressful. lol! And they cant just get up and start eating and such when they hatch, gotta hand feed them every 15-20 minutes around the clock for the first three days, then every 30-45 mins for the next three days, so on and so forth... So yea, i guess it is a bit different.. after these guys hatch, we get to sleep. after parrots hatch, ya dont.. can make you feel a little, well,
lol!
Well off to get more wood for my flight so i can continue to be busy! LOL!
Be back shortly! Good luck with the eagerness that comes along with mama-chicken-ness.. lmao!
Another is zipping. Funny thing is, the chick that hatched, about 45 min..ago..wasn't the first to pip. And it was a small egg. Tough little one. I have 7 pips..or more, every time I go back in, there's another. Midnight...is the 7th, their due date.
NYRIR..rocking is how it all starts, here you go. I'm guessing, a pip will happen soon, probably tonight while you "want" to sleep. But I'm not sure you will sleep, until you see a pip. Heavens, I'm tempted to come back on here tonight to keep watching to see if you get a pip. I know I will be up, might as well keep the computer on.

Remember, once they pip, they still may be a while. I have two chicks now, plus one zipping! Oh boy, tonight will be long. How come I always end up having hatches during the night? I know, I set them at the wrong time of day..or night..or, when is it anyway?

Yeah no kidding, i gave that up a long time ago.. when i saw my mother going days with no sleep and becoming canabalistic when it came to us kids afterwards, yeaaah, never would i do that!
My Pheasant flight is 8x20ish, and my duck flight is 8x16. both 7 ft tall to allow flight room. The pheasants have cottonwood trees in their flight, rather large and take up a little space but i can mount perches to them to give them something to sit on. The ducks just have one birch tree thats pretty interesting looking in theirs, more flight room since they dont really perch... lol. got a 90 gallon pond for them today
they should love it! Digging the hole is the trick. Cottonwood trees have small roots that span very large and go everywhere, so i get to dig through them...
Hows the eggies doin?? any peepin? pippin?
