Lockdown tomorrow, anyone else this weekend?

I got 8 chicks out of 11 eggs. Not too bad. The last one was taking forever, and i finally figured out that it had broken out but the membrane had shrink-wrapped on him. I ended up helping him a little, just by loosening the membrane where it was sticking to him and letting him do the rest. I checked on him a little while ago, and he looked to be doing fine. Yay!

It turned out to be handy to have two broodies going at once - and staggered due dates. This is because the original mama hen gave up on the one having trouble and left him. When i found him, i was able to put him under the other broody and let the first hen go brood her chicks in the nursery.

I actually have a third broody with no eggs who i'll use in case anything goes awry with the second hatch!

I have a staggered clutch too, should be interesting. theyre only different by one day so it wont do much difference other than my ducks are 4 days longer. they have 6 days left

Goot luck and hope all goes well! I have a duck egg that got cracked last week but is doing great, still kickin in there, literally... hes kicking, i can see his little foot when i candle him kickin at the light. lol!! SO CUTE!!! Ill keep my fingers crossed for our little cracked babies!

Ok,so my house is clean,my laundry is caught up,bathrooms are clean and dishes are done. Omg! I am so anxious I may even start organizing the plastics cupboard!!Boy, my house is gonna be spic an span waiting for these little buggers!

Sounds like you have a lot more than me! I hope they all hatch for you! I started with 18 barnyard mixes,13 were fertile,1 quit on day 3,2 quit after that.So only ten left.... but I would be happy with even 1!!!

Theyre flying mallards. I used to have a rouen and he was adorable! gonna keep these guys and possibly breed them if everything pans out right

I have a total of 26 eggs left. Started off with 40, 8 quail eggs were infertile, one quitter. Lost count of how many pheasants and two chukar were no good. all in all that were infertile i have 26. Only had one quitter and two bloodrings, not bad for 40 eggs.. would have a LOT more if those quail eggs had been good.
Man i have built half of my duck flight, finished my pheasant flight, done laundry, cooked for the kids, cleaned the livingroom and done the dishes. Waiting for my laundry to get done in the drier so i can throw in another load.. lol! were bad.. LMAO!

HaHaHa...I know! I also have 3 flying (but not with wings clipped

) mallards. I have pics of them posted.We're trying to figure out if one of them is restricted because of his color as a duckling. But he doesn't quite match that descrip either...

So what do you do with all those birds? Sell?

Did you post the pics of the one thats tan while the others are normal mallard colors? I saw those pics. lol. Mine wont have clipped wings either, im building a covered flight for them, and a flight for the pheasants and chukar. Why would he be restricted because of his color?

I have a black lab that is my bird dog and am planning on using the ring neck pheasants for off season hunting to keep her up to par, so im pretty much raising them for the stew pot. My melanistics and mallards will be kept because theyre too cute and cool to cook.. lol!

Pheasant makes an awesome stew. But yes, thats a lot. Have my friend throwing more at me when these hatch! Geez! his incubators are full and he just wants me to come pick up some pheasants and quail.. not sure about more chukar.. lol. Well, its a lot of free dinners i guess..

Those are adorable ducks btw. i did do a search for a pigmintedly challenged mallard, (worded differently) actually came up with some like yours. Not albino, thats a pure white with red eyes.. like a yellow duckling, no color at all. This was one i found.

Wow! I've looked everywhere and only found one pic on feathersite...that's cool....but if you noticed in the updated photos,he's almost like the other two,just a bit of white on wingtips and no stripe.

Havnt had birds in a few years but now im in a place that i can and oh boy im gonna!!

Awesome about the egg! Makes me wanna take mine out to see if theyre moving!!! AAG but i cant cause its no touchie!!
