Yes lockdown is when you stop turning the eggs and try to not open the incubator unless it is absolutely critical to do so. You'll want to raise your humidity at some point. You can go ahead and begin upping the humidity tomorrow or can wait until the first pip to raise it. After you get a pip you really want to try to not open the incubator if possible, because you lose heat and moisture every time it opens and it is possible to cause shrink wrapping in hatching chicks. You can leave the eggs upright in the cartons if you like. They will hatch just fine like that. In fact, if they are shipped eggs, it is probably best to leave them upright in the cartons.Help............... I am new at this, first time, and tomorrow is lock down. Basically that means I quit turning?? Most of the eggs I have in the bator are in paper cartons.........should I leave them??? Will they hatch ok?
Do I remove the chicks as they become dry and fluffy??
Can I raise the lid to add water??
Any help will be much appreciated!!
