Locked In My Coop For 2 Hours.....

It has happened to me but luckily my pop door is big enough for me to crawl through. I have got to remember to drill a hole so I can attach a rope to the lock so I can open the door from the inside. BTW we are not laughing at you, hopefully we are laughing with you!

My wife and our dog (puppy) got locked in our coop for a bit. They went in to check the new coop out (no chickens) and the door latched. She was able to find some straping (construction material) and manuvre it through the wire and open the latch. However, she did say there were a few anxious moments. The latch now has a cord attached where you can open it from the inside. The GSD puppy never knew anything was wrong.

Autumn before last we got a new greenhouse built. My father came over to visit during the winter, and since he'd not seen the greenhouse I wanted to show it to him. Dad, my husband, my daughter and I all went out into the greenhouse, which was a cozy 50 degrees in spite of freezing weather outside. A gust of wind caught the door and it latched--from the OUTSIDE, with all of us INSIDE.

Fortunately the men were able to take out the door panels and reach through to unlatch the door, but it was great seeing their faces when I told them we were all locked in!

You're not the only one that needs to make sure that al the doors work from both sides!

Glad I'm not the only one, I now always put my phone in my pocket when going out to the chickens. I didn't have it the first time :-(

I had to crawl out of this door when the hubby refused to believe the latch would automatically lock. The small one at the bottom. The window already had hardware wire in place.

I was not a very happy person.

That totally happened to me twice when I was building our coop. My 8 yr old let me out the first time, and then the second time he wiggled through the pop door to get out and then let me out. (The big doors weren't on yet.) He LOVES telling people about it, kids always know when to tell the best stories! Crazy!
