LOCKING DOWN anyone joining?

Thats funny and so cute Boy first time i ever have seen the mess they make hatching.... Its not pretty!! LOL But they are little dolls so worth the clean up i am sure.(i havent had a hatch yet))Not to be nosey but what is in the jar in the corner of the pic?
That's a heat sink. Got the idea on here researching homemade incubators. My incubator had one so I figured I might as well have one in the hatcher too! I use a modified water heater thermostat to control temperature (it turns the light on and off when needed) and is pretty steady at 99 / 100 in the hatcher.

I definitely wasn't prepared for the mess. I got some bright green poopy looking stuff. Umbilical cord goo...no blood though so that's good. I'm definately making modifications before the next batch including a level wire shelf to put all the eggs on and a water pan underneath them for humidity.

To lower the amount of mess ya have to clean up you can use coffee filters to line the hatch area. Or even cardboard. Some people put each egg in a cupcake paper.
Last hatch did in the top of egg cartons. this time I put a box in that fills up the whole hatch area. :) then when the hatch is done clean up is simply throw the box in the garbage.

It looks like I got 10 out of 15 eggs to hatch. The other 5 are still in the incubator. I think I'll give them until the morning. The first on hatched sometime very early Saturday morning. Do you think tomorrow will be long enough to let them go in the incubator? Suggestions / insight?

17 and 18 are working on their way out of their shells. that just leaves 7 more eggs that might hatch after that.
