Lone chick?!?!

Can a chick be raised alone? My kids were at my in-laws and found a baby chick. Just one. They talked to neighbors and no one will claim it. Can I raise it alone and add it to my flock after incubation?

You can if you aren't able to find it a friend - you can check Craigslist for your area and you might be able to get another one.

He'll be lonely though and might cry a lot. A good trick to help him feel less lonely is to put stuffed animals in the brooder with him, or hang a feather duster that he can go under to feel secure.
