Long live the King - the neverending story of Brahmalot!

I love brahmalot I have a small kingdom of wyandottalot, even though I only have a trio of GL and a pair of solve penciled, but I do have a frizzle and a friesian trio and a welsummer and 4 ex-bats and some GL wyan cross the last 2 breeds, but I would love brahmas and phoenix

Most of you followers of Brahmalot have read the story of Chrissie, Queen Mother to many of the citizens. Chrissie is an unknown breed bantam, the first chicken ever to this land that is now called Brahmalot. Her friends, Janet and Jack, perished years ago due to unknown predators. Chrissie is almost always broody. She finds out-of-the way places to hide her eggs and then she, too, disappears for a time. The neighboring giants always find her, though, and keep her as safe as possible.

The first of many nests over the last 7 or so years, a milk crate in the main coop.

Over the years, Chrissie has raised many children, although her own eggs are rarely fertile. She hatched and raised Queen Frack, among others.

Chrissie has appropriated an old barrel planter for years as her personal nest, and although it is out of the "safe zone" of Brahmalot, no harm has come to her there. When babies are hatched, she and her children are carefully moved to the safety of the castle, or even the kitchen of the neighboring giants' house!

Fast forward to the present - Chrissie decided to nest this time under the well tank. There is a small space for her to get into and out of; however, again, it is outside of the "safe zone."

Again, Chrissie's eggs are rarely fertile, and these were no exception, so when she took a short break from setting this morning, this scribe replaced her eggs with a newly hatched Brahma baby along with five other Brahma eggs. It was a joy to watch Chrissie as she heard the peeping, stopped short, and came dashing to her nest. Immediately she tucked the hatchling underneath and then lovingly tucked the other eggs, which were pipping, underneath her belly.

As of this this afternoon, as far as this scribe can tell, there are two new citizens of Brahmalot (so far) and one very happy Queen Mother!
Please forgive the extremtly blurry picture, but Chrissie is very protective and this scribe enjoys having all 10 fingers, so the zoom on the camera took place of getting too close! You can make out a slightly damp newborn child under her head.

Within the coming day or two, proud Queen Mother Chrissie and children will be moved to the safety of one of the rooms of the castle.

How wonderous! It's been many years and in a galaxy far away (across town, anyhow) that I had a broody hen hatch out peeplings. I got some silkies this year as chicks and understand that they go broody if you whisper 'egg' to them and look forward to peeplings next season.

The new day brings new life to Brahmalot! Yes, Queen Mother Chrissie has done it again. Five beautiful children, although a couple are as yet camera shy.

This scribe will be risking life and limb to move Chrissie and her children to a safe room at the castle by bedtime tonight. Chrissie is extremely protective of her little ones, so this promises to be a traumatic experience for all! We will all sleep better at night, though, knowing this family is out of reach of any monsters that wander the night.

The land of Brahmalot seems to be full of evil beasts lately. Happily, two monsters (coyotes) were shot by a member of the nearby kingdom of goat-a-lot, sadly not before the loss of one of his goats. His diligence helps keep the land safe.

Now, there seems to be a new beast of Brahmalot. So far, no citizens have been lost, but this was a scary sight seen leaving the borders of Brahmalot. The neighboring giants are on high alert! It is this scribe's sworn duty to protect the land and citizens she loves! War will be declared.
