Long live the King - the neverending story of Brahmalot!

Thanks Sjisty! I have light Brahmas- but now that I looked closer, I have 2 that are bigger, but also have almost no feathers- where as the other three are a bit smaller, darker and have longer wing feathers, a bit of a tail and a few back feathers- I am thinking these are female! I was trying to look for comb and behavior signs- but they are so mellow!

Sjisty your story of Brahmalot was such a joy to read. Have you gotten tired of writing? Please don't let this story end.

Spring has finally come to Brahmalot! With it comes exotic flowers -

and exotic visitors.

Meanwhile, there has been a population explosion! Twenty-eight new children have filled the nurseries to the bursting point!

King Zeke has decided some of the upcoming princes must leave his kingdom - he will allow no contenders to the throne, so these young men will be going on quests to find their own kingdoms soon.

Sadly, Lady Daffy lost two of her children to the dreaded winged dragons, so she rarely comes out of the castle with her remaining four, and then only under close supervision. This time of year there are many dragons feeding their young, so it is particularly dangerous for any children to be out and about.

Thank you so much for the update .

That is a lot of babies in the nurseries. Are they all brahmas? I've never had that breed of chicken but after seeing how beautiful yours are I would love to get some. Sadly our castle is full now.

I'm sorry about Lady Daffys two chicks. I can't stand the winged dragons. Around here they have a code for the winged dragons. SSS shoot, shovel and shut up. Not that I could shoot any.

Thanks again for the update and the pictures are beautiful. I'm sure people in your area would love to add those new princes to their flock.

Long live the King and Brahmalot.

If you are speaking of raptors or other birds of prey, it is also illegal to harm, disturb, or injure them unless given a lawful permit, usually issued bye the Fish and Wildlife Department of your state.

Many of your young princes are just lovely but he in particular is gorgeous! I love the lacing. What colors were his parents? I assume his father was king Zeke?

So sorry to hear about your winged dragon problems!

This young prince actually came from the far-off land of e-Bay as an egg. He is a buff-laced Brahma. All of this spring's children have come from other lands to infuse new bloodlines to Brahmalot. The other two include a blue splash and a blue/lavender, both Brahmas.

There are 21 new Brahma children. Lady Daffy's children, along with 13 others, are from the land of Wyandotte. Lastly, in the small nursery, are seven tiny children from the land of Serama!

All the babies in our kingdom are tiny- we're a kingdom of lilliputians, I suppose! We have bantam cochins, silkies, japanese and D'uccles. I've eyed eggs on ebay a number of times, but always been hesitant about having them shipped. Your success is encouraging me to try it!
