Look at what was eating my Chicken Feed

Well my bee customers really liked the entree I mixed up for them. There were drastically fewer bees in my chick's feed.

And the tray of 'bee bait" I set up outside the chicken coop was very busy! When I got home nearly all the bee food was gone. I am going to run the powdered milk through a flower sifter to get the little chunks out. Hopefully these poor starving bees will be happier soon.

We are bee keepers too. It may be sign that that particular hive's queen is getting old and that the worker bees are gathering as much "food" as possible to make "Royal Jelly" for the new queen. Bees are attracted to alpha, corn and wheat and depending on you feed that is what they think they are gathering. Do, put out a little sugar water for them and they will use that instead.

You may want to talk to your local bee keeper and have them check the hives for a weak hive or a disorganized hive. Sadly, not a good sign if the bees are vectoring in on non-flower food sources. The hone won't be effected, but the brood and hive may be weak.
