AWWWWW!!!! Baby rabbits are sooooooooooooooooo cute!

I handle my baby bunnies from day one also, but I always pet mom first.
I'd leave them outside with mom, I cannt imagine the OP's Florida winter temps are much different than my Alaska summer temps! I keep wood shavings in the bottom of the nest box for added insulation.

When breeding rabbits its best to do a lot of research on them. read as many books as you can. Ask a lot of breeders within the breed about them. Learn to breed what colors to what, and whats showable and whats not. IF you are going to breed purebred rabbits like that I highly suggest learning to show them. Even if they are lion heads. Lion heads can be shown at arba shows, but they cannot compete for best in 4-class, or best in show because they are not a recognized breed. IMHO that is the best way you can learn about rabbits. Mismarked ones( I see ypi have some in the litter) won't be desirable as breeding rabbits. But you could market them as pets when they turn eight weeks. Sometimes its best to make sure that type of market is there before the litter is born. Because sometimes it is hard to find homes for, and sell rabbits. start www.arba.net. Get yourself a copy of their guidebookto raising better rabbits and cavies and read it. You can handle them right form day 1. You shouldn't have to bring them inside during the day unless the doe decides to start kicking them around. Wean between six to eight weeks of age.make sure all the babies are healthy and eating well before they are sold. that one I cannot stress enough because there are inexperienced people out there that aren't able able to recognize an illness. Yet will still sell the rabbit.

Otherwise cute babies.

Thanks, I read/have a "breeding and raising" rabbits book from tsc, I just forgot how many days it was for that stuff and couldnt find the book on hand, also, im not very interested in showing rabbits just yet, planning to start with ducks and even there i have no idea how to go about it, right now im just breeding for pets, I have a few homes lined up for some, hoping sometime later to get a nice double maned white or black lionhead for my black single

Hopefully you have stories guidebook of the FFA one and not the rabbits for dummies. Seriously if you come across that one stay away from it. I would still strongly suggest that you look into showing. because there will come a point where you are going to deal with 4hers when breeding and selling pet rabbits. If they end up being sold something thats pet quality, with some disqualifications, like the bunny with the dutch markings, you may end up dealing with an upset kid and angry parents. That is not fun.

If you are looking for a double maned white, attending a rabbit show would be your best bet.

ok thanks, and yeah I understand that, the only reason I dont want to do showing right now is because I have 6 rabbits, (atleast 5 I know arent show rabbits) 1 white flimish giant(?) 1 white New zealand, 1 single maned orange/gray dwarf 1 brown(wild color) dwarf lop ear, 1 white with gray spots, and my black single maned mama, half of them came from an auction and were brought back to health, no idea what my white one with gray spots is, hes still in recovery, like for my black mama, shes huge and when I got her from the auction, I litterally held her the whole time we were there and she was just skin and bones to weak to move, she has the top part of one of her ears cut off from there. but yeah, dont want to show just yet, I have wayy to many rabbits right now to have more, and I cant begin to think about which id want to rehome, specially even though I want to keep skunk in the photo!

i basically do what dbunni said is what i do i always do a head count every 3 days hot summer days i might do it more often. I want to be sure there handled so that there tame when they go to there new homes. If mama is mean to me i will sell her. I enjoy looking at the babies and dont like getting attacked by a mean bunny. I have 1 first time mama doe meanest mama doe ive ever meet and those babies are all wild and acting scared and hate being handled. Ive bred her back and if she acts that way again she is gone. She is a sweet doe but does not like her babies touched.

They are soo cute!! I am afraid that is what is gonna happen to my girl bunnies. I have the male dwf lionhead and 3 female dwf rabbits separated in a huge hutch. One night dh went out to feed them and check on them and found that the male chewed through the wood and part of the wire and was in with the females! I shoulda known better grrr. Anyhow, they couldn,t of been together for more than an hour because we were out there earlier, but with bunnies I bet that is plenty of time. This was about a week ago. I think I am going to have to separate them all and give them separate cages and nest boxes now. I have no clue how to tell if the females are preggo or not...

Trust me an hour is plenty of time for all the females. only left the dad in with mama for 5 mins, then 5 the next day, Sometimes you can tell at week 2 or 3 (dont remember which) by gently probing her lower stomach, you should be able to feel something like marbles, but dont go by just that, I did with my female and couldnt feel them this time and alas, 8 babies. but anyway if you know which day he got in, just wait 29 days and she should start yanking her fur out and trying to pick up every lil tiny piece of hay and shove it in a corner

Oh and it'll look like they gained about 10 LB's at week 3!
