Good for you! It'll be perfect. We used a doghouse for the chicks since our dog was in no way intersted in using it!

Great find!!! I love Freecycle!!! We got some red paint at home depot and it goes on hot pink then dries bright red.

If you don't have the paint allready and have to buy some check at your stores (Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot) for the mistake paint. It is paint that was mixed up for a customer and it came out the wrong color and is useually half price, you just gotta find the color that will work for you. That's how I got all my paints for my chicken coops.

cool ideas! I love it! Thanks-wish I had thought of it. Like I said, my imagination went out the window by the time I had my 5 kids. Not that I had much to start with, but any I did have is gone. I'll look for mistake paint in barn red or some red color and then fix up the trim and paint that white. Will post pix when we're done. I'll even shore up the chimney and let someone nest in it if they want.

well, finally we just bought good paint and did it this past weekend. I had looked and looked for that color red in the mistake paints, but didn't find it.
Here it is:

I have to secure the chimney a bit better, as I painted it before doing that. But other than that, it's finished. My DH is glad I"m done with it, as the paint and trim were anything but cheap. "The doghouse was free though" I keep telling him.
