Look what took my chickens!!!!!! Bald Eagle Picture

Is the dog OK? Those birds carry some wicked weaponry!

I agree it's time to get busy building defenses. I suggest a large fenced run with netting over the top, with mirrors, CDs and any shiny things you can find to reflect light skyward. And maybe some big objects to provide cover an make the chickens feel safe under.

(I was in Port Townsend just last monday! Beautiful area!)

LOL he is my hero.... We are so close to getting the coop done. It figures hubby said all week the hawks are gunna get them. Never thought an Eagle would. My dog is ok he is 130 lbs and very mean whemn it comes to his chickens lol. I couldnt believe my eyes when I went out and saw the eagle inside the kennel my dog with its tail in his mouth and my chickens running like H%$#..... What a story The eagles wings were so big the took up the width of the kennel

C'mon folks!! We're talking about a bald eagle vs. a chicken. I love my chickens as much as the next person, but if I had a chance to give back...

I know exactly what you went through. I lost my Rooster to a bald eagle, just a little over a month ago. This is the breeding season for eagles, and the fish are not running yet... So they are feeding their young with what they can.

I am sorry that you lost some birds, but oh so happy for you that you have such a wonderfull dog, give him lots of praise and goodies. He deserves it.

Great picture hun.

You know as sad as I was when the eagle took off with my BR Roo, it was really quite cool to watch... How often do you get to see that???

Again, I am so sorry for the loss of your birds.

R.I.P missing chickens.

edited because I meant breeding season, not breading season...

Realizing very early on, with my location, I have Owls, Hawks, and Eagles. The Eagles come from Lake Martin. And the rehab center at Auburn University. Got a roof very soon after lost birds to Hawks and Owls. Now the Eagle only had one chance when I let the girls out for the afternoon. He was mad cause he only rolled her and the rest ran for cover. I was stunned to see this magnificent bird in the tree after, then he just flew away. I told my kids when we lost birds to raptors, they were here first. We are just tenants. And put a roof on the coop.
