Ok, Ok, I did a neighborhood drive to all of the homes where they have lived there forever, in hopes that someone would know who's it was, and yes, I did find the owner. He had multiple other Mastiffs (one with pups). It was friendly, but he also told me it was a chicken eater....so did the neighbor who lives next to him (killed his chickens before) Also, I lost a duck last week to something as well during the night....
Now the funny thing is, I baited that trap with chicken innards I saved (in the fridge) from my last butcher...........hope he doesn't come back
Great trap and kuddo's to you for finding the owner!! I am dealing with not 1 but 2 stray's at the moment..... I hate animal control so that is not an option here. I am currently look for a vet that is willing to help spay the female....
I hope you ask the owner to replace any chickens that you loss. I don't think it's an unreasonable request. (Even if you don't get it)
I love dogs. I have two and would have 10 if my husband would let me. But I think that if you have a pet of any kind, you need to be responsable for all your pet's actions as well as your own.
It's too bad you found the owner. If he's a repeat offender and still runs loose, the owner isn't very responsible. Maybe somebody could have adopted him. Did the owner have any plans to do better in the future?
