Look who arrived today!

Maybe she is just slow. I had 2 and 1 was much smaller than the other, but now they look the same!

My Rhode island red was slower for the first week but soon perked up and just recently was the first of the flock to start laying. They are so cute when they're babies. I fed just the medicated starter for the first 4 weeks but I did give the electrolytes solution as recommended and never did have an issue with pasty butt--thankfully. Good luck with the coop building.!

She's interesting. All the other Barred Rocks are already showing tail feathers (10 days old) and she is still just a tiny chick with the smallest wing feathers. She eats and runs around and is very vocal. As far as I can tell, she is ok, just little. My daughter has named her Amp because she is loud.

I have a BR that was and still is the runt, almost a year old now. She will run and jump to grab a worm right out of the roosters beak always the first to eat the treats. She also lays very small eggs compared to the rest.

My daughter and I have been out there for a couple hours getting to know them. Some neighbors came over to check them out also. Mrs Baggins is excited, but she won't be home until late.  So far, everyone has been eating/drinking/sleeping/peeping/pooping and running around. Hopefully we don't lose any.

I've been worried about her, especially since we lost one of her sisters last weekend. This is heartening. Seeing her run around and mix it up in the food plate with the other chicks is a good sign, I think.

Cute name!!

So, my buddy, who was supposed to split this order with me, backed out. I do not have the space for 15 chickens. 10 max. Luckily, my other good friend has been planning on chickens for a while. He is shifting into hi gear to get his coop and run ready and is excited about getting our extra chicks. Things work out.
