I like Char. Or Raven. Or Chicory (LA!)

So we just named our black astralorpe stormy. Had a lot of decent ideas but i guess my 4 year olds vote counts more than mine ;-)

Other names were black pearl, obsidian, anise (the flavoring in black licorice), pepper, pebbles...

I do agree that black Betty is a good name. For other rock ideas i like Janis, Beatles, Aretha,

Oh yeah and raven was in the running...

Of course the kids vote counts more. That’s why I have a cat named polkadot and had chicken named Helen Keller. LOL

I don’t want to alarm you but you might have a defective husband, I’d get him check out.

We have Salmon Faverolles ... so I guess we’d need French names

And a few splash Ameracuanas... and a few Dominique’s... not sure if we’re keeping those yet though

For the Dominique you could go with Layla. You know because it was by Derek and the dominoes. I think I’m right on that one

This one’s probably really bad but could go with the name Dixie and then you have a Dixie chick. LOL oh my gosh I really am a dork

Awesome! I also heard someone mention black velvet in another thread yesterday. In my opinion not as good of a song but pretty cool nameNow we’re trying to choose between three names. At least we’ve narrowed it down. I put way too much thought into their names. LOL

I also liked the name Bertha. A Grateful Dead song which a lot of my chickens are named after but my daughter absolutely hates it. Hard finding something we can all agree on. If they don’t end up agreeing on somethings I just name them myself Lol. I am the main chicken caretaker around the house

I generally name them once I've had them a while and get to see their personalities. Sometimes a physical trait will trigger a name.
I have a rooster named Trouble. He showed signs of being a boy early on. I said "you're going to be trouble aren't you?" And it stuck. Captain is named for his broken toe. It's a hook--Captain Hook....
