I found this.Yes. Toxic to bees, safe for us. You can find it in the gardening section, It's used to dust plants and vegetables to kill off harmfull insects. Personally, I'd never use the stuff in my garden since it is so bad for beneficial insects. You can find it anywhere including Meijer or Walmart. Like any treatment, keep it out of the eyes.
I totally agree Mary, De is not a safe product even if you label it food grade.Carbaryl is NOT approved for use on chickens in the USA! Use permethrin spray (easiest and least expensive!) or permethrin dust, or the very most expensive product, spinosad.
DE is not safe for anyone to inhale, works poorly, and is mined in open pit mines. I wonder how long those workers live who do that?

Already got two coops cleaned out.All insecticides will harm beneficial insects too, and fish, amphibians, and many reptiles. Used with care, in the coop, it's necessary sometimes, and permethrin is the best product available in the USA.
Wear long sleeves and an N95 dust mask when treating birds or cleaning the coop!!! I know finding those masks is tough right now, so maybe one of the respirators instead.
Inhaling the dust in poultry houses (yes, even yours!) is very bad, just avoid it as much as possible.

Takes me, my mom, & my sister to clean them out. We've got lots of birds, 50 now since we moved some chicks outside.Coop cleaning, what fun! Makes me tired thinking about it.
